Members of the committee and dedicated supporters braved the torrential rain and the mud to meet members of the public with a stand at the popular Kyneton Show on 19 November 2011. The stand showcased photographs and graphics of our ideas and we discussed the latest developments in the planning of the park. Visitor numbers to the stand were a little low due to the weather, but the number of feedback forms filled out and the positive comments were most encouraging. It was great chance to gain more support and gauge responses.

There were Fairies in the bottom of the garden… On 27 November the world record attempt for the largest gathering of fairies, organised by local business, Pass the Parcel, was an ideal time for the KCP group members and supporters to socialise in the beautiful Kyneton Botanical Gardens along with their partners and children. Several committee members handed out KCP leaflets and spread the word about the plans for the Community Park. We all enjoyed supporting the Heart Kids charity event in addition to seeing so many hundreds of people taking pleasure in the Gardens in the summer sunshine.

KCP help celebrate Kyneton Historical Society’s 60th Birthday

Members of the committee were at the Kyneton Museum on Sunday 9th October to join in the Kyneton Historical Society’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.

The Kyneton Community Park group have been working with the Historical Society on on the ’12 Steps Through Time’ historical pavers which will form part of the Community Park. The pavers are in the design phase at present and visitors to the musem could see a mock-up of the ‘gold’ era paver along with a design theme board showing what the other pavers will have in them. We anticipate the project to be completed early in 2012.

Kyneton Botanic Gardens to flourish under new plan

Family Fun Day

The Kyneton Uniting Church grounds were the venue for a family fun day organised by the Kyneton Playgroup. We were among a handful of community groups and local artisans who were invited to run a stall. There was a jumping castle, face painting, food stalls, live music and a ‘guess the number of acorns in the jar’ competition run by the Kyneton Community Park committee. The Easter Bunny arrived in style on a fire truck handing out chocolate eggs which brought a smile to many faces including our own Lucky Dip Lucy.

We we love to hear from you if you have any stories or photos of time spent in this beautiful part of Kyneton – picnics, fishing, swimming, family reunions, wedding photos, or holidays in the Kyneton Caravan Park. We are working with the Kyneton Historical Society to create a heritage pathway as part of the Kyneton Community Park comprising 12 pavers each depicting an historical period of the site.

Sausage sizzle success

The Kyneton Community Park committee held their first ever sausage sizzle which raised over $500 towards the park.
Thanks to a federal grant from the department of Families, Housing, Community Service and Indigenous Affairs, we had all the equipment needed to make it successful. Positioned outside Woolworths in Kyneton we were able to give locals an update on the project as well as providing something to fill that gap between breakfast and lunch.

Children’s Week in the Kyneton Botanic Gardens

Chris and Tracy from Kyneton Maternal and Child Health Care organised a nature treasure hunt in the Kyneton Botanic Gardens to celebrate Children’s Week. The Gardens looked spectacular in the spring sunshine and the children had great fun searching for their treasures. Sarah, Ian and Sharon from the Kyneton Community Park committee provided the lawn games and a lovely time was had by all.
